John Cena Broke The Ice With Zac Efron On The Set Of ‘Ricky Stanicky’ By Discussing Pro Wrestling
Pro wrestling was the best icebreaker for John Cena and Zac Efron on the set of Ricky Stanicky.
John Cena is known first and foremost for his time in WWE and Zac Efron recently portrayed Kevin Von Erich in the “Iron Claw” film. As such, when the two men met on the set of Ricky Stanicky.
In a new interview with Indiewire, both Efron and Cena spoke about how the world of sports entertainment was an area of discussion that both immediately gravitated towards in order to break the ice with one another.
“I started it, and I always talk about it because it’s something that I love. Zac had just come off of finishing ‘The Iron Claw,’ and I’d seen pictures that got leaked, and I was very excited about what a story about the Von Erichs might look like. That’s kind of how I broke the ice with Zac. And once I start talking about sports entertainment, I don’t shut up,” said John Cena.
Efron said that he found John Cena to be someone easy to talk to about the experience he had on set as he knows John’s whole life was wrestling at one point.
“It was great for me because I finished ‘The Iron Claw’ and went straight into filming this,” Efron said. “I hadn’t talked about that experience with anyone. After spending 10 minutes with John, I realized that probably nobody knows more about what I’ve just been through in that experience than this guy right here.”
Chavo Guerrero, who has wrestled John Cena, trained Efron for the role of Kevin Von Erich and says that he believes Efron could work a full match. Learn more here.
