Sad news. Paul “The Butcher” Vachon died last night at the age of 86 years old. Former AWA tag team champ, Grand Prix Wrestling promoter and WWE wrestler, he had a great career and became a friend of mine over the years. My sympathies to his wife Dee and his family. pic.twitter.com/r705Ou2Sws

Vachon was a former AWA Tag Team Champion with his brother, Maurice Vachon. Paul and Vachon had a decorated run as a tag team, as they competed for various companies, including Stampede Wrestling, Mid-South Sports, Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, and more. Paul Vachon was inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2010.
Paul and Maurice helped launch Grand Prix in Quebec, and Paul later briefly worked in WWF. Over the years, he had battled cancer.
On behalf of Fightful, we send our condolences to Vachon’s family, friends, and fans.
Vachon’s adopted daughter, Luna Vachon, was previously inducted into the Women’s Wrestling Hall of Fame. More information is available here.
