Randa Markos May Appeal UFC Fight Night: Mexico City Loss
Randa Markos suffered a split decision loss to Alexa Grasso in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Mexico City.
The fighter doesn’t think the judging was handled very well in the fight and is thinking of filing an appeal to have her loss overturned.
“I felt that I did enough to win,” Markos told MMA Junkie. “You need to win at least two rounds to get a victory. I thought I won two rounds, and the last was close. So I think I won that fight. … I feel I’m definitely going to try to fight that (appeal the loss). Hopefully I get the victory.”
Markos did enter the fight ranked #9 in the UFC rankings, it is unknown just how far she will drop after the loss to the unranked Grasso. She was also ineligible to win a "Fight of the Night" bonus, since Grasso missed weight.
The fight did take place in Grasso’s home country of Mexico, but that won’t discourage Markos from fighting in other countries as well.
“I love fighting in different countries,” Markos said. “Fighting here was awesome, and I was really honored to be a part of it. Coming off a loss like that, such a close loss and feeling that I won at least two of those rounds, it kind of gets you hesitant. But I’m just looking to the future, and hopefully I get a fight soon and get back in there.”
Grasso also missed weight for the fight by three pounds, weighing 119 pounds instead of the 116 pound weight limit.
