Sami Zayn missed a few weeks after Drew McIntyre attacked him on the December 4 episode of WWE Raw. He made his return in the Men’s Royal Rumble on January 27. In doing so, he clearly set his sights on winning a world title.
On the February 5 episode of WWE Raw, Sami Zayn discussed his return in an interview. He reflected on losing to Roman Reigns at WWE Elimination Chamber. Zayn recalled how Triple H told him that he had nothing to be down about. He then noted that Triple H compared his loss to Rocky’s journey. Zayn passionately vowed to fight like an underdog, but he said he was not an underdog anymore. Instead, he said he was a contender who would become a champion.
Zayn emphasized that he was driven to become a champion because he wanted to prove to the fans who believed in him right.
