Swerve Strickland Namedrops Kofi Kingston, Ron Simmons, And Athena In Promo On 2/3/24 AEW Collision
Swerve Strickland shouts out past wrestlers who have made Black history as he looks to make history in his own way.
Swerve Strickland addressed wrestling fans on the February 3 edition of AEW Saturday Collision. He kicked off his promo by reminding Tony Schiavone that it is Black History Month and then shouted out some wrestlers who have been part of Black history. Specifically, Strickland named Ron Simmons, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena, and WWE Superstar Kofi Kingston.
Strickland went on to say that he would beat Hangman Page on February 7 and that he would beat Samoa Joe at AEW Revolution to become the AEW World Champion. Strickland then made Prince Nana promise that he would not interfere because he didn’t want Page to have any more excuses going forward.
Swerve speaks on his match against Hangman Adam Page this Wednesday on #AEWDynamite where the winner will get a shot at the #AEW World Title at #AEW Revolution.

This promo was the first time Kofi Kingston was mentioned by name on AEW Dynamite. CM Punk had previously alluded to Kofi Kingston in a promo on AEW Dynamite on August 17, 2022, where he called Eddie Kingston the second-best Kingston he’d ever shared a locker room with.
Kingston and CM Punk reunited when Punk returned to WWE in late 2023.
