Gunther: Ludwig Kaiser Won’t Challenge Me, Our Relationship Is Based On Loyalty
Gunther doesn’t foresee Ludwig Kaiser ever challenging him for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Gunther is the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. Having held that title since June 2022 and defeated the likes of Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Matt Riddle, and more to defend the title, he has carved out a legacy and a piece of WWE history for himself.
Gunther did not accomplish these things alone. Since his WWE SmackDown debut, he has been flanked by Ludwig Kaiser and they would later be rejoined by Giovanni Vinci. The other members of Imperium have helped Gunther establish himself and now, Gunther is saying that there’s no way Kaiser would ever challenge him for the WWE Intercontinental Title because their relationship is built on trust and loyalty.
“It’s unrealistic. Our relationship is based on loyalty. So that’s not gonna happen. I know, it’s hard to grasp for a lot of people. They change their friends like underwear. We’ve been sticking together since day one of our careers. I get why people are excited about it, but it’s unrealistic,” he told Emily Mae of Sportskeeda Wrestlebinge.
Furthermore, Gunther says he’s not worried about anybody coming to take his title.
“I’m not nervous about anybody in the company to be honest, because I know what I can do and I know my skill set. Nevertheless, you’ve got to take them all seriously and never underestimate who you’re facing. So, I take everybody that comes my way very seriously and I approach it that way, but I’m not concerned about anyone.”
Gunter recently told Sean Ross Sapp that potentially vacating the WWE Intercontinental Championship is something he would have to think about should he set his sights on the World Heavyweight Championship. Read his comments here.
