Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) have been with AEW since 2019. The young stars stole the show when they shared the ring with the Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), and they cemented their status as a fan-favorite duo. They have since hit some obstacles, as Quen missed over a year with an injury, but he returned on the January 3, 2024, episode of AEW Dynamite.
In a new YouTube video, Private Party looked back on signing with AEW. They also recalled how Tony Khan offered to pay for them to go to school, but they did not accept the offer.
Marq Quen: Do you remember when Tony asked us if we wanted to go to school, he would cover it, but we had to keep a grade higher than a B. We just looked looked at him like, yeah.
Isiah Kassidy: Quick fact. This is how great of a man Tony Khan is. I don’t think I ever told this story, but he offered to pay for Quen and I’ college if we kept like a 3.0 grade [average].
MQ: That’s a “B”, right?
IK: I think so. But knowing me, I was young and dumb. I’m like, I don’t want to go to college.
MQ: I wasn’t. I was just like…
IK: I already tried college. I tried college. If I didn’t try it, I would have never…I would have probably tried it at that time, but I already tried college, and I figured out it wasn’t for me. I’m gonna be honest with you, college is not for everybody.
MQ: Dropped out of school to do Gin and Juice. [Laughs]
IK: Like I said, I did try college, and it just wasn’t for me, so when he [offered] me an opportunity, I know it was a beautiful opportunity that a lot of people wouldn’t have passed on. However, I just thought it was really kind, and it was a really dope thing to do by Tony Khan. But we didn’t [accept it]. We didn’t take the opportunity, but shoutout to Tony Khan for even offering the opportunity.
During the video, Marq Quen discussed his absence and commented on his injury. Click here to see what he had to say.
