Marq Quen Comments On Missing Over A Year With A Torn Pec, Says He Is Ready For In-Ring Return

Marq Quen opens up about his injury.

Marq Quen missed over a year with an injury. After he wrestled on the December 2, 2022, episode of AEW Rampage, he was absent for the next several months. While he was on the sidelines, his tag team partner Isiah Kassidy tagged with The Hardys (Matt and Jeff Hardy). Quen made his return on the January 3, 2024, episode of AEW Dynamite, as he reunited with Kassidy, and they put the tag team division on notice.

In a new video on Isiah Kassidy’s YouTube channel, Marq Quen discussed his absence.

“I’ve been getting surgery, I’ve been staying at home, crying, miserable, depressed. It took a lot for me to get the surgery because… I was told that I can heal on my own. So when I was trying to heal on my own, they told me that I wouldn’t get the strength back that I had before. So then that’s when I was like, by that time, it was already February, March. Then I was like, why didn’t they say that from the beginning? I would have got the surgery back in December. So that’s why I got the surgery in April. Got this nice little scar right here, you see that?” Quen said.

Kassidy then asked Quen to describe how he got injured. Quen joked that he got hurt when Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal beat them up. Kassidy noted that he thought the injury happened when they hit the Silly String, and Quen agreed, though he stated that he liked the other explanation better.

“Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett whooped our asses. [Kassidy says he thought he popped his shoulder on a Silly String] Yes. But I like the ‘whooping our asses’ better,” Quen said.

When Kassidy asked Quen what the injury was, Quen replied that he tore his pec and he started to describe the surgery, but he trailed off. He stated that he felt great, and he was ready to get back in action. However, when Kassidy asked whether he was confident, Quen im[lied that he was feeling some nerves.

“I tore my pec, and I had to get a reconstructed pectoral tendon. Doctor words. I feel great. Ready, back in action. Am I ready to get back in the ring? Of course. Of course, I’m ready to get back in the ring. [Kassidy asked if he’s confident] So about that, am I confident? Yes. Am I ready? I don’t know. I don’t know who I’m facing, I don’t know what it is. So all the nerves and all that other stuff’s gonna come into play. Gonna get blown up just because of not knowing what I’m gonna do. If I don’t get blown up, that means I didn’t do enough,” Quen said.

As of this writing, there is no word on when Marq Quen will return to the ring.
