Sabu Wants To Have His Final Match In 2024, Would Prefer To Face Rob Van Dam

Sabu is gearing up for one final bout.

Even though Sabu has wrestled for WWE, TNA, WCW, and more, he is undoubtedly best known for his time in ECW. Throughout his time in ECW, he both wrestled against and tagged with Rob Van Dam.

During a recent appearance on Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw, “The homicidal, suicidal, and death-defying” hardcore icon revealed that he would like to have his final match in July 2024 or after that point and he would like to have it against Rob Van Dam.

Although Sabu is known for some pretty hardcore Barbed Wire Matches, he says he would like to have a regular match against Van Dam and have one of his better matches to close out his career.

“I’m actually hopefully setting up for my final match. I want to do a final match, maybe in July or later,” he said. “It’s probably going to be [with] Van Dam. I heard Van Dam say he wanted to have a Barbed Wire Match. To have his last match and my last match be a Barbed Wire Match. I thought, ‘Yeah, whatever. That’s good.’ I’d rather just wrestle him in a regular match. I want to have one of my better matches. The Barbed Wire Match, that’s a gimmick. I don’t really want a gimmick. The gimmick is my final match.”

Sabu appeared at AEW Double or Nothing 2023 and served as the special guest enforcer for a match between Adam Cole and Chris Jericho.

Rob Van Dam has also made appearances for AEW. Fans can read his comments on his personal retirement plans at this link.

In the past, RVD has also stated that he thinks Sabu should be in the WWE Hall of Fame. Read those comments here
