Gabe Kidd has had his sights set on Eddie Kingston for some time now. They previously clashed at NJPW STRONG Nemesis 2021. Kidd reignited their rivalry when he attacked Kingston at NJPW Lonestar Shootout. Kingston then vowed to get revenge on Kidd.
At NJPW New Year Dash, Kidd and the Bullet Club War Dogs faced United Empire, and the bout ended in a bloody brawl.
In his backstage comments after the match, Gabe Kidd called out NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston and challenged him to a match at NJPW Battle in the Valley on January 13.
“2024, I’ll scrap anyone. There’s a fat bastard who’s been ducking me by the name of Eddie fucking Kingston. I’ve been watching you, I’ve been watching you. Congratulations. Omedetō. I bet you don’t even know what that means because you don’t care about Japan. ‘Kawada’s my idol, Kawada’s my hero.’ I am fighting spirit. No one is more fighting spirit than me. Do you fucking understand? I am fighting spirit. That’s me. Nobody embodies it more than me. Eddie, January 13, San Jose, bring those fake little triple crown belts. I only want the STRONG Title and a fat bag of cash. You are fucking dead,” Kidd said.
As of this writing, NJPW has not confirmed the match for NJPW Battle in the Valley.
Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay will headline NJPW Battle in the Valley, and Jon Moxley is set to face Shingo Takagi. More information is available here.
