UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has only suffered a single defeat in his UFC tenure and that came by way of submission to Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 196.
When McGregor faces Floyd Mayweather in the super fight this August, a member of The Money Team says McGregors old rival is being asked to walk out to the ring with the boxing great.
“I’m gonna make the call to Nate Diaz,” The Money Team member Jason Lee told TMZ. “I would love to see him walk out with Floyd. Hell yea, that would be awesome for the town.”
Mayweather made various references to McGregor’s submission loss to Diaz during their four city press tour to hype up their upcoming fight.
Lee also believes that Diaz should do the walk out with Mayweather because Diaz, much like members of The Money Team, are all from Stockton.
“He’s from Stockton; we’re from Stockton! Stockton people are almost on the level of a Ferrari. We’re gonna keep doing what it stays to stay relevant,” says Lee.
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
