UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are under a month away from their super fight in Las Vegas.
The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) is going to be drug testing both competitors robustly, according to a USADA representative.
“Mr. McGregor is subject to both the UFC Anti-Doping Policy (because he's still an active UFC athlete) and the anti-doping program agreed to for the Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing match,” a USADA spokesperson told MMA Fighting.
McGregor has yet to fail a drug test as a professional MMA fighter and Mayweather has yet to fail a drug test as a professional boxer.
Also according to the USADA spokesperson, both McGregor and Mayweather are subject to as many tests as the program wants to put them through.
“There is no maximum number of tests that can be performed and like our other programs, we will test robustly leading up to and during the fight in order to maximize deterrence and detection,” the spokesperson said. “Each athlete’s test history will be published on the USADA website and updated weekly.”
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
