Paul Butler And Stuart Hall To Fight In Bantamweight Title Eliminator

Paul Butler and Stuart Hall will have a rematch form their world title fight three years ago, only this time the chance to fight for a world title will be on the line.

Butler and Hall will fight on September 30 in Liverpool in a WBA "regular" bantamweight title eliminator. Jamie McDonnell, the champion, will be facing Liborio Solis in a rematch for the title later this fall. The winner of those two fights will likely face each other for the title.

The announcement of the fight also came with the news that Butler has signed with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing to a promotional deal.

Several fights have been announced for the card. Below are the other fights confirmed for the September 30 card:

  • Rocky Fielding (c) vs. David Brophy (c): Unified British and Commonwealth super middleweight title bout
  • Tom Farrell (c) vs. Ohara Davies: WBA International super lightweight title bout
  • Sean Dodd (c) vs. Tom Stalker: Commonwealth lightweight title bout

Butler has won numerous regional titles at super flyweight and bantamweight. Butler would then defeat Hall via split decision (113-115, 117-111, 115-113) to win the IBF title in 2014. Butler never defended his title because he wanted to move down in weight, but lost to Zolani Tete the following year for the IBF super flyweight championship.

Hall bounced back from a loss to Lee Haskins in an IBF super flyweight title fight last year and beat Jose Aguilar in a six-round fight in June.
