Joey Janela discusses WrestleMania weekend.

Every year during WrestleMania weekend, wrestling fans from all over the world descend on the location for the huge WWE event and as such, it has become a common occurrence for independent wrestling companies to run shows in the same cities as WrestleMania each year. For example, this year featured several events in Los Angeles including the likes of GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 9, GCW For The Culture and more.

While speaking on Fightful’s In The Weeds podcast, Janela addressed these shows, reminding people that the independent wrestling scene is piggybacking off WWE each year with WrestleMania weekend events.

“We’re piggybacking off them. They can do whatever the fuck they want. We’re piggybacking off them. We’re stealing fans that they could have at their events. It’s their fucking weekend, we’re piggybacking. It’s WrestleMania weekend. It’s not IndieMania weekend. They can do whatever they want.”

WrestleMania 40 is schedued to take place in Philadelphia in 2024. Game Changer Wrestling have previously announced its ‘The Collective’ series of events for WrestleMania week next year. To read more about these events, you can here.
