Adam Copeland: It’s More Important For Christian Cage And I To Have A Match In Montreal Than On PPV
Adam Copeland says that the match against Christian Cage on the December 6 AEW Dynamite is the kind of story that his dreams are made of at this point in his career.
Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, formerly known as Edge and Christian in WWE, will clash one-on-one AEW TNT Title inside the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. With their history and respective resumes, the first match in 13 years between Copeland and Cage could very easily be featured on a pay-per-view and perhaps, even headline one.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Copeland revealed why he thinks it’s more important to have a match against Christian Cage on the December 6 episode of Dynamite from Montreal instead of on a pay-per-view. As two native Canadians, Copeland and Cage will have relatives and other loved ones in the audience who have seen their story unfold from the very beginning.
“I’ve heard, ‘Why isn’t this at the pay-per-view?’” said Copeland. “To me, where is more important than when. We get to do it in Montreal. There’s no other choice for us but to have it here. My family is coming for this one, cousins and relatives who’ve known Jay for years.
“There’s something special about doing it in Canada. I am really, really amped up to do this one. I truly think there’s not another story like ours, with this real story. Two friends from Orangeville, Ontario, who made it where we made it because of each other. I’m hoping this is a rabid crowd. This is what I dreamed of–working that guy in Montreal for a championship.”
Adam Copeland has said that he wants to continue wrestling for as long as he possibly can, but he knows his endgame.
Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on December 6, as well as a post-show podcast on our YouTube channel.
