Manager Says Max Holloway Facing Frankie Edgar Next

Brian Butler currently serves as the manager for UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway, who won the gold by defeating Jose Aldo at UFC 212.

When it comes to the champion's first title defense, the fighter’s manager says that Frankie Edgar should be the first challenger. However, there may be a slight delay to the title fight due to the Holloway's contract issues with the promotion.

“We are in negotiations right now with Max and getting a new deal in place, and once that’s in place, we’ll be ready to commit,” Butler told MMA Junkie Radio. “It’s looking like it’s probably going to be Frankie.”

Edgar has challenged for the gold twice before, suffering decision losses to Jose Aldo in both of those previous attempts.

Butler also knows that his client wants a UFC event in Hawaii, but Butler feels that the financial risks may prove to be too much for the UFC right now.

“If you had the opportunity to do it in Vegas, where you know you’re going to clear several million, or do it in Hawaii, where you’re not, what are you going to do?” Butler said.

Prior to becoming the UFC Featherweight Champion, the Hawaii native in Holloway was the UFC Interim Featherweight Champion.
