Tony Khan Says He Can’t Talk About CM Punk Returning To WWE
Tony Khan is asked about CM Punk.
CM Punk made his return to WWE at WWE Survivor Series, appearing for the company for the first time since 2014. Punk had a public falling out with WWE as he walked out after WWE Royal Rumble 2014, aired grievances on a podcast with Colt Cabana, was released on his wedding day, and went through a legal battle with WWE medical official Dr. Chris Amann.
Punk did return to wrestling in 2021 when he signed with AEW, but after a year with the company, he was suspended for a backstage incident with the Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) and & Kenny Omega at AEW All Out 2022, and then fired a year later after a backstage incident with Jack Perry at AEW All In 2023.
Speaking to Steve Hermon of BBC West Midlands to promote AEW All In 2024 ticket sales, Tony Khan was asked about CM Punk’s return to WWE.
“Can’t talk about that, nor do I think it’s the time or the place. I appreciate you asking and I’m very excited about AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. Not to dodge or duck your question, it’s just something I can’t legally talk about,” he said.
Khan has issued multiple “no comment” statements in the past when asked about Punk and the backstage incidents.
After he fired Punk ahead of AEW All Out 2023, Khan stated that he feared for his life during the incident at All In and that Punk endangered others.
