Great-O-Khan Teases His Interest In AEW, Says His Mission Is To Be The Savior Of Japanese Wrestling

Great-O-Khan teases following Will Ospreay to AEW.

Great-O-Khan teases following Will Ospreay to AEW.

NJPW star Great-O-Khan has seen several of his United Empire stablemates sign with AEW, as Will Ospreay, Mark Davis, and Kyle Fletcher have all joined the company. Great-O-Khan has also competed for the promotion through its working relationship with NJPW. However, he remains primarily featured in NJPW, and he is currently competing in the World Tag League.

Speaking with Tokyo Sports (translation via DeepL), Great-O-Khan was asked to name the teams he is interested in.

“I’m curious about the Bishop Khan and Toa Liona team from AEW. From their names, I think they look up to HENARE, but there are a lot of guys in AEW who have to pay back their debts, such as Moxley and FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler). Wouldn’t it be nice to use those two as a stepping stone and get into AEW with Ospreay?” Great-O-Khan said.

After noting that Ospreay will continue to be part of United Empire after he joins AEW, Great-O-Khan noted that he talked to his stablemate about the move and hinted at his interest in following him there.

“I talked to Ospreay. ‘I’m sorry, it’s still painful.’ ‘Of course it’s painful, you could have said so.’ ‘You could have at least risked our lives with us! We’re all friends! ‘Say you want to go!’ ‘I wanna go! Say ‘I want to go’! Let’s go. Let’s go to AEW,'” Great-O-Khan said.

When the interviewer noted that meant that Great-O-Khan would be able to go to AEW, Great-O-Khan stated that it’s no wonder they are offering him a great deal. He also joked that he is a distant relative of Tony Khan but emphasized that he has a mission to be the savior of the Japanese wrestling world.

“How do you know? It’s no wonder they are offering me such a great deal. I want to drive a Cayenne with that money. Is it too much to ask to buy land in Aoyama? It’s like Tony “Khan,” as he is called. But for now, I have a mission. Shinsuke Nakamura said that the Japanese wrestling world needs a savior. Who else but me? I will be the “chosen savior,'” he said.

In July 2023, Great-O-Khan said he declined an offer from Tony Khan. Click here to see what he had to say.

Before he faced Jon Moxley at NJPW Power Struggle, he said AEW should present him with MJF’s head if he won. Check out his comments here.
