AEW Full Gear was Sting’s first match in Los Angeles (Inglewood) since 1999. It was his first match in the Kia Forum (formerly the Great Western Forum) since 1999 as well. He first wrestled in LA in 1987. It was his first televised match to take place in LA. He faced Hulk Hogan in a cage match that streamed online for an event titled WCW LA Melee in 1998.
Sting has announced that he will retire at AEW Revolution 2024.
Copeland, Sting, and Allin were also accompanied by Ric Flair. Flair recently noted how at home he feels in the AEW locker room. Read his remarks here.
