Matt Hardy: It’ll Be Interesting To See How The AEW Fanbase Reacts To Ric Flair As Time Goes On

Matt Hardy comments on Ric Flair signing with AEW.

Fans were shocked when Ric Flair appeared on the October 25 episode of AEW Dynamite as Tony Khan’s retirement gift to Sting. During that show, Flair made it clear that he wanted to be along for the ride during Sting’s retirement tour, which will come to a conclusion at the Revolution pay-per-view in 2024.

Then, news broke on Thursday, November 2 that Flair had signed a multi-year deal with AEW, keeping him with the company for at least the next two years. Many fans would argue that this signing is one of the most controversial signings in company history.

On the latest episode of The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, Hardy commented on Flair’s signing and noted that it will be interested to see how the fans of AEW react to him as time goes on.

“I’m good friends with Ric, I’ve always gotten along well with him. It’s really interesting. Honest to god, I just expected Ric was there through Sting’s final match and his retirement, which is what, four months? I figured that was the run that Ric was gonna do, and then he would be finished. He’s doing something with his Woo Energy drink as well. But lo and behold, he has signed for years, so it’s gonna really interesting to see how that very opinionated and very outspoken AEW fanbase react to him as time goes on. It’s gonna be really, really interesting.”
