Daniel Garcia: I Felt Complacent After Being Back With Chris Jericho Following Bryan Danielson Feud

In the summer of 2022, Daniel Garcia had to make a decision. Was a he a pro wrestler or was he a sports entertainer?

Chris Jericho had turned him into a sports entertainer as he was a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society, but Bryan Danielson saw him as a pro wrestler.

In the end, Garcia sided with Jericho, remaining on the path of sports entertaining.

Speaking to Jon Alba and Matt Hardy on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Garcia commented on working with Danielson and being back with Jericho.

“The storyline with Bryan happened where I was battling between being a pro wrestler and a sports entertainer. I got put back into the Jericho group. A lot of people were mad about that. When I got put back into the group, I felt like I was kind of complacent. I felt I took a couple steps backward after the Bryan storyline. That’s when I decided I was going to go all the way with this. I’m going to change my gear, I’m going to put on these stupid leather pants, I’m going to change my theme song, I’m going to start dancing in the ring. I’m going to start doing all these things. When something is not working, I feel like you have to start making changes. That was a big deal for me, when I started to buy in to my own character rather than reject it,” said Garcia.

Garcia would remain a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society for another year before the group officially disbanded.

He is still aligned with Matt Menard and Angelo Parker. The three men challenged for the AEW Trios Championships at AEW Battle of the Belts VII against The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) and Billy Gunn.
