Alex Gracia Says Feedback From Mickie James Allowed Her To Appreciate The Journey In Wrestling
Alex Gracia talks Mickie James and the decision to attend her masterclass.
In July 2023, Mickie James, in association with Maryland Championship Wrestling, hosted a three day masterclass. The camp was designed to help elevate the careers of experienced professional wrestlers.
One of the performers that attended the camp with independent standout Alex Gracia, who has competed in Ring Of Honor and AEW in the past.
In a new interview with WrestleZone, Alex Gracia said that she signed up for the masterclass with no hesitation.
“I saw it, no hesitation, I’m jumping on this. When you see opportunities like that and you have the opportunity to do it, no questions asked, I was signing up. Then I realized it was in a totally different state and all that, but I was like, I’ll figure things out and I did, I figured things out.”
Gracia went on to recall how James made her feel better about the current state in her wrestling career, which in turn led to her having a resurge in confidence.
“You’re not gonna get better knowledge and just teaching and ideas from anybody but her, and I feel like I needed to do it because I was feeling down on my wrestling, feeling down on my career. I’m just like, maybe something there will light a little fire in me because it’s like, I was getting really down on myself with my progress in wrestling because you feel like you’re doing everything right. I feel like one of the most beneficial things from talking to her was her struggle and how long it took her to get into a major company and everything. She’s like, ‘You can be a great wrestler, have a great look, this and that and it’s not you, it’s just not the right time for whatever reason. Just getting feedback from her, I’m like, okay I don’t suck that bad [laughs]. People who actually know what they’re doing are commending me or giving me compliments, so I can’t be as bad as I think. Just seeing those stories, it feels good not to be alone in this because a lot of these people who you’re like, how the heck did it take them so long to get picked up, I think you see those things and you hear about everything they went through, it’s like — it’ll happen if you just keep going. I’ve learned to be thankful for the rejections and the things that didn’t work out, and I try to see the good that came out of it. Every single negative thing that I felt or feeling like I’m not good enough to be there, I see that there’s a line of so many good things that either made me grow as a person or as a wrestler. I wouldn’t have gotten that if I didn’t get rejected here, so that’s why I’m trusting the timing and appreciating the journey more and where I am now.”
