Hiroshi Tanahashi Wants To Get MLB Players Masataka Yoshida And Shohei Ohtani In A Wrestling Ring

Hiroshi Tanahashi is proud of his fellow countrymen playing Major League Baseball and hopes that one day he can recruit Shohei Ohtani and “Macho Man” Masataka Yoshida to the wrestling world.

Hiroshi Tanahashi is known as “The Ace” of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, but he is also passionate about the world of baseball.

During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Tanahashi praised Boston Red Sox left fielder Masataka Yoshida and said that he hopes to one day attend his games when he is in the United States for wrestling shows.

“I feel proud of him as a countryman,” said Tanahashi, speaking through a translator. “It’d be great if I can go and see his games [next season] when I visit the US for our shows.”

Tanahashi also spoke about his early dreams of playing baseball, noting that he doesn’t believe he could teach Yoshida anything, rather he hopes that Yoshida would eventually offer him some pointers.

As for potentially trying to draft Yoshida into the world of wrestling, Hiroshi Tanahashi says that both Yoshida and Shohei Ohtani are top-tier athletes and playfully asked about getting them in the ring.

“They are amazing athletes,” said Tanahashi. “Maybe we can get them in the wrestling ring someday?”

Maxwell Jacob Friedman, MJF, also recently gave his thoughts on baseball players he believes would make good pro wrestlers. Learn more here.
