Mick Foley: If WWE Can’t Make Jade Cargill A Major Star Then They’re Failing In The Worst Way
Mick Foley comments on WWE signing Jade Cargill to a multi-year agreement.
Jade Cargill is the first homegrown AEW star to sign with WWE. The inaugural AEW TBS Champion signed a multi-year deal with WWE on September 26, 2023, and WWE is promoting her on all shows, not tipping their hand as to which brand she will be presented on first.
Jade’s signing has the wrestling world talking and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley recently gave his thoughts on Cargill’s WWE future, saying that if they don’t make a major star out of Jade Cargill, then WWE has failed.
“Oh man, you talk about the ‘it factor.’ She just really jumps off the page. Giving her the day to do media is the way you break a star. It just remains to be seen whether they you know want to introduce her with a bang,” Foley said on the most recent episode of the Foley is Pod podcast. “Wow, that was really impressive. It really was, to see the rollout. If WWE can’t make her a major star, then they are failing in the worst way possible. So I think they will, and I think she will rise to the occasion. She’s somebody whose upside is almost immeasurable. She’s just going to continue to be better, but she’s got that look, and not just the look, but the presence as well. I see big things for her in WWE.”
Foley also spoke about the possibility of Jade Cargill entering and winning the Royal Rumble saying he would like to see her make a big splash of a debut in the match, similar to what AJ Styles did in 2016.
“I am all in favor of making the big splash right away. I understand the value of NXT, but I think when you have somebody like that you want to make that big splash right away, like they did with AJ Styles, like they did with Cody, and that would be a perfect way to do it.”
Jade has stated that the brand she will be on when she makes her debut has been decided on, but believes that is a reason for the audience to tune in to WWE programming.
