Jake Hager calls it a MMA career.
Speaking during a K&S WrestleFest signing, Jake Hager announced his retirement from MMA.
“Officially, I’m retired from MMA. I trained hard last year, but Bellator was jerking me off, so I retired and I’m focusing on wrestling now,” he said.
Hager is currently signed to AEW. He signed with Bellator in November 2017 after leaving WWE. He made his cage debut in January 2019, defeating J.W. Kiser by arm triangle. He went 3-0 with one no contest due to accidental groin strikes in his Bellator MMA career.
Hager has not fought since October 2020 when he defeated Brandon Calton by split decision.
Hager did have a “MMA fight” against Wardlow on the June 18, 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite. Hager won in the second round.
Bellator MMA is reportedly expected to fold in the future after merger talks with PFL fell through.
