Kenny Omega Becomes First IWGP United States Champion

New Japan Pro Wrestling's United States debut is complete, and accordingly, the company has their first United States Champion.

Kenny Omega became the first ever IWGP United States Champion when he defeated Tomohiro Ishii Sunday Night during New Japan's G1 Special. 

Omega and Ishii did battle in the main event of the G1 Special night 2 event. Omega went through Jay Lethal and Michael Elgin, while Ishii went though Tetsuya Naito and Zack Sabre Jr. in order to make it to the finals.
