On September 9, 2023, All Elite Wrestling hosted a new episode of AEW Collision on TNT.
The show was headlined by two Grand Slam Eliminator Semi-Final matches, with Roderick Strong facing Darby Allin while Samoa Joe faced Penta El Zero Miedo. The full results & highlights are listed below.
AEW Collision 9/9/2023).
- Samoa Joe, Penta El Zero Miedo, Roderick Strong & Darby Allin cut promos ahead of their involvement in the Grand Slam Eliminator Tournament Semi-Finals during the Cold Open of the show before transitioning into the opening contest of the night.
- AEW International Championship Match: Jon Moxley (c) def. Action Andretti (w/ Darius Martin).
- There was a video vignette of Roderick Strong detailing his friendship with Adam Cole, with Strong saying that Cole was the one who changed. Strong promised to win the Grand Slam Eliminator Tourney to win the AEW Championship but then stated that it wouldn’t be sufficient as he wanted his best friend back.
- TBS Championship Open Challenge: Kris Statlander (c) def. Robyn Renegade (w/ Charlette Renegade).
- Robyn Renegade & Charlette Renegade attacked Statlander after the match, but they were stopped by the return of Jade Cargill. Cargill attacked the Renegade Sisters before extending her hand to Kris Statlander, but Cargill caught Statlander with the Jaded, aiming her eyes on regaining the TBS Championship.
- Renee Paquette interviewed Ruby Soho & AEW Women’s Champion Saraya, with Soho throwing a tantrum at the fact that Storm was “forgetful” about costing Soho the TBS Title at AEW All Out. Saraya told Paquette that she could not stand Lexy Nair before declaring that she would return to Arthur Ashe to defend her Women’s Title.
- Tony Schiavone interviewed NJPW Openweight Strong Champion Eddie Kingston & ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli. Kingston ran down on Castagnoli for not doing business with him before leaving for WWE before challenging him to a Title vs Title Match at AEW Grand Slam, which Castagnoli accepted.
- Bullet Club Gold (Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) (w/ Cardblade) def. Gravity, Aerostar & Dios Del Inframundo.
- CJ Perry had a video vignette, saying that Miro lost himself after losing his TNT Championship. Perry said that if Miro wanted to go through this path, that was fine but she would have to find a path of her own, and that is to become the coldest manager in all of wrestling once again.
- There was a commercial of The Dark Order promoting their merchandise.
- “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn & The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) announced they would start their World Tour, saying that they would be heading to New York for AEW Grand Slam for their next title defense.
- Rey Fenix (w/ Alex Abrahantes) def. Angelico (w/ Serpentico).
- Tony Schiavone had a backstage interview with AEW Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Hardwood & Cash Wheeler), with Hardwood announcing an Open Challenge for the titles
- Darby Allin was attacked backstage by Christian Cage & TNT Champion Luchasaurus, with Cage promising tht he would not win any championship possible. Despite the attack, Allin still walked to the ring to face The Messiah of the Backbreaker, Roderick Strong.
- Grand Slam Eliminator Tournament – Semi-Final Match: Roderick Strong (w/ MikE Bennett & Matt Taven) def. Darby Allin (w/ Nick Wayne & AR Fox).
- Nick Wayne & AR Fox argued after the match, with Wayne checking in on Allin.
- Powerhouse Hobbs had a vignette backstage, where he stated that he prays for no man but looks at the Book fo Hobbs for guidence. Hobbs said that there was still chapters unwritten and promised to make everyone fall to The Book of Hobbs.
- Keith Lee was interviewed by Lexy Nair backstage. Lee stated that he was the Collision in AEW before sending a message to anyone that is against him: “My advice to you: RUN”.
- There was a vignette of The Righteous (Stu Grayson, Vincent & Dutch).
- Bryan Danielson was interviewed by Tony Schiavone in the ring. Danielson said that his time in the ring is running out, as he promised his daughter that he would start winding down on his career. Danielson did say that he would not go down with that fight and promised that he would make it the most epic year of his career before challenging Zack Sabre Jr for WrestleDream.
Ricky Starks & Big Bill interrupted Bryan, with Starks promising that from All Out onward, he is now greedy & will be focused on taking everything. Danielson then told Starks that he was not done speaking before. As Danielson got a t-shirt, Big Bill & Starks attacked Danielson. Jon Moxley attacked Bill from behind, but Bill laid him out. - Big Bill was interviewed by Tony Schiavone, where Bill promised to beat up Moxley and become the new AEW International Champion on the 9/13/2023 edition of AEW Dynamite. He was interrupted by Rey Fenix, who stated that he was next up to face Moxley.
- Grand Slam Eliminator Tournament – Semi-Final Match: Samoa Joe def. Penta El Zero Miedo (w/ Alex Abrahantes).
- With this win, Samoa Joe will face Roderick Strong in the Finals of the Grand Slam Eliminator Tournament on the 9/13/2023 edition of AEW Dynamite.
