Seven-time IMPACT Knockouts Champion Gail Kim retired in 2018, and she returned for one more match at IMPACT Rebellion 2019. She has remained involved in the wrestling world, as she works for IMPACT as a producer. IMPACT announced that Kim will return to the ring at IMPACT 1000 on September 9.

There, she will team up with Knockouts Champion Trinity, Jordynne Grace, Awesome Kong, and a mystery partner. The group will take on Angelina Love, Deonna Purrazzo, Savannah Evans, Gisele Shaw, and a mystery partner.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Kim commented on her upcoming return to the ring. She expressed her excitement about tagging with Trinity and called it a dream match.

“This is the greatest passion in my life. I can’t wait to get back in the ring. I’m nervous, but I’m really excited, too. Tagging with Trinity, that gives me goosebumps. This is a dream match, and there are still surprises to come. I couldn’t have asked for a better match. It’s a great reason to wrestle again,” Kim said.

Kim also noted that she didn’t expect herself to come out of retirement, but IMPACT 1000 is a special occasion. She stated that she found out about a month ago, and she’s looking forward to working with some amazing people. Kim called IMPACT 1000 a celebration, a reunion, and some nostalgia that fans will love.

“I didn’t even expect myself to be back, but it’s a special occasion. I found out about a month ago, and I get to work with amazing people. It’s going to be a celebration, a reunion, and some nostalgia that wrestling fans will love,” Kim said.

The former champion also shared her thoughts on teaming up with Awesome Kong, her former rival. Kim recalled how she saw Kong at OBD’s wedding, and the legend made it clear that she was ready to get back in the ring herself.

“I saw Kong not too long ago at ODB’s wedding, and she looked grea.t She said she was ready to scratch that itch and get back in the ring. Here we are, my greatest rival is about to become my greatest partner,” Kim said.

Kim also admitted that, at 46 years old, training is more of a challenge, but she welcomes it. She stated that she’s going to do the best she can in her return to the ring, and she hopes the fans will love it.
