Gable Steveson Withdraws From 2023 World Championships In Freestyle Wrestling

As previously announced, Steveson was set to compete in the 2023 World Championships in free style wrestling. The tournament will be held from September 16 to September 24.

Per USA Wrestling, Steveson has informed USA Wrestling that he will not be competing in the world championships. Mason Parris will replace Steveson in the competition. Additional details regarding Steveson’s absence were not provided.

Steveson returned to freestyle wrestling in April, when he won the 2023 U.S. Open. USA Wrestling noted that he clinched his spot in the world championships with his win at Final X in June.

Previously, Steveson won the Olympic Gold Medal in freestyle wrestling in 2020. Steveson signed an NIL deal with WWE in 2021. He made a few appearances before he wrestled in his first match at NXT Great American Bash. There, he faced Baron Corbin, and their match ended in a double count-out.

As of this writing, there is no word on when Steveson will return to the WWE ring.
