KENTA: Welcome Back My Go 2 Sleep

KENTA gives comments on CM Punk being released.

On Saturday evening, AEW announced that they had terminated the contract of CM Punk after he was involved in a physical altercation with Jack Perry at AEW All In. Tony Khan said on AEW Collision that Punk endangered people backstage and that he feared for his life.

Taking to social media, KENTA weighed in.

In the build up to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, KENTA said many times that he was looking for “the bag” to get a match with Punk. No match between the two materialized and Punk ended up facing Satoshi Kojima.

Fightul Select reported that KENTA vs. CM Punk was the planned direction for AEW Forbidden Door. Shortly following that, Fightful Select was told that Punk “wasn’t thrilled with working with KENTA and he may come across badly in an interview,” referencing the CM Punk interview with ESPN. There was no mention of KENTA in the article.

The two have a long-standing history as KENTA originally used the GTS.

Fightful Select has more details on Punk’s departure from AEW.
