On August 24, Major League Wrestling announced a new partnership with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The working relationship will kick off at MLW Fury Road on September 3, as KUSHIDA will face Tony Deppen. KUSHIDA is a six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and a three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, among other accolades. 

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, KUSHIDA commented on his upcoming MLW debut.

“I am excited to wrestle in MLW for the first time. I hear there are a lot of great wrestlers there, and I look forward to fighting them. I am ready to take on anyone. I’m ready to fight for the championship,” KUSHIDA said.

KUSHIDA has wrestled all over the world in recent months. He has competed for CMLL, IMPACT Wrestling, and NJPW, among other promotions. He also made his AEW debut on the January 18 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he lost to TNT Champion Darby Allin.
