Tyron Woodley Defending Gold Against Demian Maia At UFC 214

A third title bout has been added to the UFC 214 line up as UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley is going to be defending the gold against #1 Demian Maia.

Woodley (17-3-1) is going to be defending his title for the third time, as his last title defense was a decision win over Stephen Thompson at UFC 209. Woodley is also entering the fight while riding a four fight winning streak and hasn’t suffered a defeat in just over three years. Woodley has only suffered a pair of defeats during his UFC run, those defeats came to Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald.

Maia (25-6-0) is going to enter the fight riding a seven fight winning streak. The grappling-minded Maia has previously challenged for the UFC Middleweight Title, losing to then champion Anderson Silva at UFC 112. Maia has earned a total of 12 submission wins as a professional MMA fighter, while he has yet to be defeated by submission as a pro.

UFC 214 takes place on Saturday, July 29 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California with Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
