On August 19, New Japan Pro-Wrestling will hold the All Star Junior Festival event. NJPW continues to fill out the card, and the company announced that IMPACT X-Division Champion Lio Rush will face Fugaz, Dragon Kid, Soberano Jr., and KC Navarro.

Rush has not wrestled since MCW Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup XXII on July 22, and GCW announced that he was dealing with an injury. He appeared on the August 10 episode of IMPACT Wrestling, where he attacked Samuray del Sol backstage.

Rush competed in the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors 30 earlier in 2023. He also wrestled throughout the New Japan Cup tour in March. Rush and YOH won the Super Junior Tag League 2022.
