WWE NXT (8/8/2023) Results: Dominik Mysterio vs Dragon Lee, Rey Mysterio Appears, More Compete

Results for the 8/8/2023 edition of NXT on the USA Network.

On August 8, 2023, WWE hosted a new episode of NXT on the USA Network. The show was headlined by Dominik Mysterio, with  Rhea Ripley in his corner, defending his NXT North American Title against Dragon Lee, with the WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio in his corner.

Elsewhere on the card, Noam Dar faced Tyler Bate in a Heritage Cup Match, Bron Breakker faced Von Wagner, Mustafa Ali went one-on-one against Axiom, Blair Davenport was in action, and more. Full results & highlights are listed below.

WWE NXT (8/8/2023).

  • Mustafa Ali def. Axiom.
    • Ali pushed Axiom off the top rope to the outside after pulling his mask. Ali ended proceedings by getting Axiom back in the ring and hitting a 450 Splash on him for the pinfall win.
  • The Schism (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid & Ava Raine) attacked multiple members of the NXT Roster, including Malik Blade & Ikemen Jiro, before promising to turn NXT upside down to find The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed).
  • Blair Davenport def. Kelani Jordan (w/ Dana Brooke).
    • Dana Brooke chased down Davenport with a belt before she was stopped by Jordan.
  • Von Wagner cut a promo on Bron Breakker ahead of their match later tonight. Wagner promised to put Breakker through a table. 
  • Noam Dar’s “Heritage Cup” Match: Tyler Bate def. Noam Dar (“c”) (w/ Jakara Jackson, Oro Mensah & Lash Legend) (R5: 2-1).
  • The Dyad (Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid) attacked Hank Walker & Tank Ledger before Joe Gacy arrived and kicked Walker in the ribs. 
  • Ilja Dragunov was interviewed backstage, where he stated that he was going to the ring expecting to see Trick Williams. Dragunov promised to bring Williams nothing but pain. 
  • DIJAK confronted NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes, but he was interrupted by Wes Lee. The two argued before DIJAK threw Lee around the locker room. 
  • Ilja Dragunov came to the ring and called out Trick Williams for a fight, but Williams arrived and brought an offer to Dragunov. Williams challenged Dragunov to a match to prove he was no sidekick. Dragunov warned Williams about the challenge, saying he would break Williams if given the chance. The two agreed to a match on NXT Heatwave.
  • Drew Gulak & Charlie Dempsey were interviewed talking trash about Hank Walker & Tank Ledger for being sidelined due to injury. Damo Kemp met them, but they were interrupted by Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs. The match was set for later tonight.
  • Bron Breakker was interviewed by Kelly Kincaid backstage, where he was asked what he thought about Wagner’s statements. When Breakker was told that Wagner promised to put him through a table, Breakker stated the following: “Give me a break…”. 
  • Rey Mysterio spoke with Roxanne Perez before meeting with Thea Hail. Hail asked Rey if he still loved Dominik, to which Rey responded that he did not like the man Dominik had become but knew Dominik would come around. After the conversation, Andre Chase & Duke Hodson met with Hail before Hail told Chase that unlike him, Mysterio would never throw the towel on her. 
  • Bron Breakker def. Von Wagner (w/ Mr. Stone).
  • There was a vignette of Eddy Thorpe where he went to the woods to regain some footing after his loss against DIJAK last week.
  • Dominik Mysterio & Rhea Ripley spoke backstage before Lyra Valkyria confronted her backstage. Valkyria told Ripley to practice what she preaches and let Dominik do it on his own.
  • NXT Tag Champions The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) was taking pictures before they were confronted by The Schism. They teased attacking The Family, but Gacy talked Fowler & Reid from attacking them. 
  • Drew Gulak & Charlie Dempsey (w/ Myles Borne) def. Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs (w/ Fallon Henley).
    • Damon Kemp attacked Jensen at ringside, allowing Dempsey to hit a Snap-Dragon Suplex for the pinfall win.
  • Dana Brooke & Kelani Jordan argued backstage before Brooke promised Jordan what her Killer Instinct should be next week when she faces Blair Davenport.
  • Kiana James def. Ivy Nile.
    • After the match, The Schism (Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, Rip Fowler & Ava Raine) & the army Schism Fans surrounded Ivy Nile before asking them where The Creed Brothers were at. The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) made the save. 
  • There was a vignette of Los Lotharios (Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo) texting before saying that they were letting down their Wrestling Famali.
  • Tyler Bate was confronted by Meta Four (Jakara Jackson, Oro Mensah, Lash Legend & Noam Dar) to get the “Heritage Cup”. After demand from the real NXT Heritage Cup Champion Nathan Frazer, Dar admitted that his cup was not legitimate. Dar & Frazer will face each other for the NXT Heritage Cup on NXT Heatwave.
  • NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton was interviewed backstage by McKenzie Mitchell, where she admitted that she went on a Shopping Spree and went for pink clothing because of the Barbie movie. Stratton admitted that she did not who would be her opponent before saying that it would be “No one”.
  • Trick Williams left the arena before Wes Lee told Trick Williams that he was coming for Carmelo Hayes. Damon Kemp, Drew Gulak, Charlie Dempsey & Myles Borne confronted Williams on the NXT Parking Lot, but Williams called them “Oompa Loompas” before challenging anyone of the four-man group to a match next week. 
  • NXT North American Championship Match: Dominik Mysterio (c) (w/ Rhea Ripley) def. Dragon Lee (w/ Rey Mysterio).
    • Rhea Ripley hit Dragon Lee’s head with her WWE Women’s World Championship, allowing Dominik hit Lee with a Michinoku Driver for the pinfall win.
      After the match, Lyra Valkyria hit Ripley with the Black Mass while Dragon Lee hit a Thrust Kick on Dominik. Mysterio stood tall with Lee & Valkyria to end the broadcast.
