Seth Rollins Overcomes Judgment Day, Beats Finn Balor To Retain World Title At WWE SummerSlam

Finn Balor fails to scratch away that seven-year bitch.

Seth Rollins overcame his most formidable challenge yet and the numbers game played by Judgment Day to once again retain his World Heavyweight Championship over Finn Balor at WWE SummerSlam 2023.

The match was full of callbacks to their match at SummerSlam in 2016, which saw Balor suffer an injury that forced him to relinquish the WWE Universal Championship he had just captured. Finn Balor would deliver to Seth Rollins the Powerbomb to the barricade that injured him all those years ago, and Seth Rollins came out wearing the same vest he wore the night he injured Balor.

Ultimately, despite the appearance of Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and Damian Priest of Judgment Day, Seth Rollins was able to overcome the odds, Curb Stomp Balor onto Priest’s Money in the Bank briefcase as Priest had the referee distracted, hoping that Balor would use his briefcase as a weapon.

Rollins would celebrate as Damian Priest and Finn Balor would share glares of disappointment at one another.
