Kevin Owens Advocates Brand Split, Wants To Main Event This Year
Kevin Owens has long been viewed by many as a main event talents. Thanks to the brand split, that could become more of a reality, and Owens knows it.
When speaking to The National, Owens said that he advocates the idea of the brand extension. After wrestling Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler several dozen times over the course of a couple of months, Owens says that he was open to switching things up.
“I wrestled Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler (both of who are now on SmackDown), just to name those two guys, 20 times over the past few months. I always enjoy getting in the ring with both those guys and we always put on really good matches but it is good to have new challenges, new opponents and fresh matches,” said Owens. “I think as a fan, and that is one thing I would say I still am because I watch every Raw and everything else still, that makes me excited because I am going to see different guys on different shows and different matches that I haven’t seen before or haven’t necessarily seen in a long time.
With the rosters split in half, new talents will step up and main event. Owens still hasn’t headlined a WWE ‘special event,’ and he’s looking to change that in 2016.
“I am definitely ready for a main event. Actually I am very conscious of the fact I am yet to main event a pay-per-view and I am not going to lie when I say that bothers me and I am going to do everything I can to make sure that happens this year,” Owens said.
