Grayson Waller Says He Was Going To Work With UFC Champion Alexander Volkanovski At PWA
Grayson Waller almost worked with Alexander Volkanovski.
Alexander Volkanovski is the reigning UFC Featherweight Champion and one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Fighting out of Australia, Volkanovski represents his country every time he steps into the cage, and he has a big supporter in fellow Australian Grayson Waller.
Waller has positioned himself as one of the top talents on WWE SmackDown thanks to his persona, which he has admittedly borrowed from MMA standouts such as Conor McGregor and Chael Sonnen.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Waller discussed potentially working with Volkanovski.
“I know a few years ago, I think him and (Henry) Cejudo were supposed to have a fight, and Cejudo was doing stuff with AEW. Volkanovski actually talked to the school, PWA, that I was from about maybe coming in for a show, doing some stuff so he could kind of build to the Cejudo fight, but it never came through. I was supposed to do some work with him. Now, we can just do that on a bigger stage,” he said.
Cejudo did make an appearance on the May 27, 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite as part of Mike Tyson’s entourage.
Volkanovski unified the UFC Flyweight Titles at UFC 290 by defeating Yair Rodríguez.
Elsewhere during the interview, Waller discussed the potential of teaming with Conor McGregor at WrestleMania. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
