Kurt Angle reflects on Ric Flair still being able to wrestle in 2005. 

Kurt Angle and Ric Flair are two of the best technical wrestlers to ever step into a squared circle. When Kurt Angle was drafted to WWE Monday Night Raw in 2005, he immediately crossed paths with Ric Flair as part of his first promo. 

While re-watching the July 4, 2005 episode of WWE Raw on the most recent episode of his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion opened up about what it was like to wrestle Ric Flair at that time in his career, praising the unique arsenal of spots that Ric Flair developed through the decades to make sure that even when he was wrestling at an advanced age, he could always give the fans a worthwhile show. 

“Ric was a lot of fun to wrestle because he did a lot of stuff people recognized he had these certain bumps that he took, that he always took,” said Kurt. “The one off the top rope where you flip him over. When you punch him and he does that face bump where he does the silly thing and bumps forward.

“Ric had all these different bumps that he did,” Kurt continued. “He kept that in his repertoire as he got older. Although he couldn’t wrestle like he used to at this point in time in 2005, he was still good. He was past his prime, though. So he did all those trademark moves, and he still was very entertaining. He was a lot of fun to work with.” 

Angle and Flair would cross paths again in TNA but never work an extended program there. 

Ric Flair recently had his last match as part of a tag team match. That is a scenario that Kurt Angle is open to if he ever decides to get back into the ring one more time himself. Read more here.
