Jazwares’ Jeremy Padawer Discusses Potential NJPW Figures, Praises AEW For ‘Next Level Thinking’
AEW has partnered with many companies throughout their existence with the biggest partnership coming with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
The two companies have held an annual Forbidden Door event the past two years to go along with frequent talent exchanges.
AEW has its own figure line through Jazwares while NJPW figures are more sparse through Super7 or custom figures.
Speaking to Jeremy Lambert & Stephen Jensen on The Spotlight, Jazwares’ Jeremy Padawer discussed the possibility of Jazwares producing NJPW figures through the AEW partnership.
“If I could talk very freely about it, I would. It’s a little bit outside of my domain to speculate specifically. Let’s put it this way, I’m going to talk less as an action figure manufacturer and more as a fan, and say, all of the things that you’re seeing from AEW in terms of breaking down the Forbidden Door and working with, and legitimatizing local content distribution, other major alliances, is next level thinking. Speaking as a fan, it’s awesome, I love seeing that. I’d love to see more of that. It’s great for the business. It only makes sense that one extension of that would be in consumer products. It would not at all surprise me if that happened. I can’t confirm it. I can only speak about it in that kind of matter,” he said.
When it was mentioned that custom figures are being sold for nearly $500, Padawer said, “I am aware of customizers and the amazing work they do and I’ve seen people pay hundreds of dollars for a great custom, I can only imagine that’s probably following the pattern.”
After Jensen said that Will Ospreay customs were hot sellers and that it would make sense for Jazwares to produce figures if they could, Padwer commented, “I’d love to do that. I would not be at all surprised if we could figure out a way to make that happen.”
Jazwares recently announced that they utilizing the ROH brand through AEW by producing the first line of ROH figures.
