Andy Kaufman Authorized Documentary Announced, The Rock Listed As A Producer
An authorized documentary on Andy Kaufman is coming soon.
Deadline reports that award-winning documentarian Clay Tweel will direct the first-ever authorized documentary on Andy Kaufman.
Producers include Seven Bucks’ Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Brian Gewirtz. Campfire Studios, Worldwide Pants Incorporated and Fifth Season are also involved.
In wrestling circles, Kaufman was famously involved with Jerry Lawler when Lawler “slapped” Kaufman on Late Night with David Letterman in 1982. He regularly appeared on Memphis television and wrestled women as the “Intergender Champion.”

The Kaufman documentary will investigate the origins of the artist’s unparalleled creative choices and his personal definition of “funny,” aiming to demystify the human being behind the act, with insight from his closest family, friends and collaborators.
Andy Kaufman was inducted into the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame.
