Oscar De La Hoya Calls Conor McGregor Delusional

Legendary boxer Oscar De La Hoya has previously spoken out against the Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather super fight taking place this August.

Now the legendary boxer is speaking up again and this time he is calling the UFC Lightweight Champion “delusional.”

“Look, Floyd Mayweather is one of the best boxers in our generation, and for McGregor to think that he can out-box Mayweather is a little delusional. It’s speaking the truth, but hey, may they have a good fight, and then we can move on to focus on our real fight on September 16th,” De La Hoya told BT Sport.

De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions is going to have the GGG versus Alvarez fight taking place just a few weeks after the McGregor versus Mayweather bout.

The boxing great also questions the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for sanctioning the fight in the first place.

“It’s one of those boxing matches that’s gonna be irrelevant to our major fight, and real fight, that we have against two real boxers on September 16th,” De La Hoya said. “First of all, how did the commission ever sanction such a fight? And how can a fighter who has zero experience in boxing go against the very best, and pretend that maybe he can win? It’s almost unheard of.”

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
