Matt Hardy: I’m Never Doing A Contract Story Again After Ethan Page Program, I’ve Done My Fair Share

Matt Hardy says his storyline with Etha Page is almost in the endgame, and he won’t do more contract stories after that.

Matt Hardy says his storyline with Etha Page is almost in the endgame, and he won’t do more contract stories after that.

Since Matt came to AEW in 2020, he has been involved in multiple contract-based storylines, dating back to his days as “Big Money Matt.” Matt formed the Hardy Family Office and later sold the controlling stake i the group to Andrade. His contract was later acquired by Stokely Hathaway of The Firm, but Matt got revenge when he won Ethan Page’s contract at AEW Double or Nothing 2023.

Speaking with Mail Sport’s Alex McCarthy, Matt Hardy reflected on being in limbo after his brother Jeff got suspended in 2022, and he described how the storyline with Page has been featured across multiple platforms. He made it clear that he has been having a lot of fun, and they’re almost at the ultimate goal of the program.

“Fortunately, I ended up doing this deal with Ethan Page, and we’ve kind of done it across all platforms of AEW entertainment. Whether it be Dynamite, Rampage, less on Elevation, some stuff on socials and It’s been really enjoyable. I’m going to put Ethan Page over huge. I think he’s an incredible talent. I’ve enjoyed working with him. I mean, we are really similar in our thought processes and in kind of the way we see things, and he’s very detailed, and I’m a big fan of him because of that. But this has been a blast, and I think we’re getting ready to go with it now in these next couple of steps before we get to the ultimate goal, we’re almost there. We’re almost at the ultimate goal of this whole program,” Hardy said.

In the same interview, Hardy looked back on his time with AEW, which has included multiple storylines that have featured contracts one way or another. He noted that he’s never going to be in a “contract story” again because he has done plenty already. The veteran also emphasized that they’re almost at tje end game with the Page storyline.

“It’s going to be very funny once this contract stuff is done with Ethan, which we’re getting very close to the end game here, but I’ll make sure to make a comment about it because I’m never going to be in a contract story again at all, because I’ve done my fair share,” Hardy said.
