Daniel Bryan Reveals Which Wrestlers Are Better Than Him
SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan has been in the ring with some of the greats in and out of WWE and has admitted there are a few wrestlers who are better than him.
Bryan was on Talking Smack with Renee Young and AJ Styles when Bryan has said there are wrestlers where the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion said he knew he was outclassed.
“There were times when I stepped in the ring and I knew they were better than me,” Bryan said. “When I was younger, I was in the ring with Yuji Nagata and he was infinitely better than me, Jushin Liger when I faced him.”
For those not aware of Nagata’s career, he is a former IWGP Heavyweight, IWGP Tag Team and NEVER Openweight champion. Nagata, the 2001 winner of the G1 Climax, still competes for New Japan Pro Wrestling today.
Jushin Thunder Liger had been a part of WCW in the 1990s, winning the WCW Light Heavyweight title, but spent the bulk of his career in NJPW, winning the IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion a record 11 times. WWE fans had a glimpse of Liger when he competed in the opening match of the 2015 edition of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn when he defeated Tyler Breeze.
Bryan’s comments can be seen around the 20-minute mark on the July 20 edition of Talking Smack on the WWE Network.
