Nick Aldis & Lio Rush Attack Sabin & Shelley, Samoa Joe Warns Stokely Hathaway | IMPACT x ROH Recap

Here is your fight size update following IMPACT and ROH Wrestling on Thursday, June 29, 2023. 

Below are highlights from both Thursday night wrestling shows.

IMPACT Wrestling  

– Nick Aldis returns to the IMPACT Zone to explain why he assaulted Alex Shelley two weeks ago with the IMPACT World Title. Shelley swiftly interrupts, stating that no one is interested in his explanation.  Aldis accused the Motor City Machine Guns of conspiring against him. According to Aldis, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have worked hard to get individuals like him out of the business. Aldis feels that during Slammiversary, he will shame and humiliate Shelley, not simply defeat him.

– Chris Sabin stops Aldis from hitting Shelley with the IMPACT World Title for the second time. But then Lio Rush surprises Sabin as Aldis re-enters the battle. The Motor City Machine Guns are floored by Aldis and Rush, who hold the IMPACT World and X-Division titles.

–   IMPACT Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry presented a song to Kenny King called “Stripper Kenny.”

– Trinity defeated Jai Vidal in intergender action.

– Moose sought out Brian Myers and The Good Hands. Myers attempted to discuss strategy with Moose, but Moose reminded Myers that in order to win, he needed to shed the dead weight, which included leaving The Good Hands.

– Backstage, Frankie Kazarian and Eddie Edwards had an argument before agreeing to no longer be partners but opponents.

– Zachary Wentz returned on June 29.

– The career of Scott D’Amore was highlighted

– In a tense scene after Masha Slamovich defeated KiLynn King, Masha and Killer Kelly became bonded symbolically and chained together literally.

– Dango has drawn the ire of Santino

– Backstage, Zicky Dice and Johnny Swinger celebrated Swinger’s victory over Bhupinder Gujjar. The head of IMPACT’s Referee Commission addressed them and informed Swinger that the victory was null and void, before Spencer warned Dice not to do it again or he would lose his referee license.

Ring of Honor 

– Stokely Hathaway may be calling the shots and Ring of Honor, but Samoa Joe says he owns Stokely Hathaway

– Athena turned back yet another challenger in another Proving Ground Match. This time, she defeated Kc Spinelli.

– Claudio Castagnoli , ROH World Champion, defeated Chuck Taylor. 

– To retain the ROH World Six-Man Tag Titles, The Embassy defeated Los Ingobernables de Japon 

Lexy Nair interviewed Jerry Lynn and The Kingdom’s Maria Kanellis-Benett, Mike Benett, and Matt Taven backstage. Backstage, the Kingdom attempted to sweet-talk Lynn, but everything came apart when Mike Benett boasted about retiring Lynn. Lynn retaliated by pairing The Kingdom and Maria against The Infantry’s Shawn Dean, Carlie Bravo, and Trish Adora in a Trios battle.

– Action Andretti, Darius Martin, and Christopher Daniels were beaten by United Empire’s Kyle Fletcher, TJP, and Jeff Cobb.

– House of Torture (SHO & Yujiro Takahashi) lost to Roppongi Vice (Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero). After the bout, House of Torture assaulted Beretta and Romero, but AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy saved them.

– El Hijo del Vikingo, Komander & Lucha Bros scored a win on June 29. El Desperado bested Willie Mack. Also, Big Bill & Lee Moriarty established dominance over another team. This time it was TARIK & Karu.

– Preston Vance and Dralistico, La Faccion Ingobernable, beat Mark Wheeler and Vikram Prashar.
