AEW Dynamite (6/21/23) Preview: AEW Hits Chicago For Final Dynamite Before AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2

It’s Wednesday, June 21, 2023, and you know what that means!

It’s time to break down the June 21 episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS.

AEW returns to one of their homes away from home as Chicago gets ready for the final episode of Dynamite on the road to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 25.

Here’s everything you need to know before the latest AEW Dynamite on TBS.

Concession Stand Brawl

Jeff Jarrett and Mark Briscoe will turn the clock back on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite with a concession Stand Brawl. Playing tribute to the Memphis territory, Jarrett challenged Briscoe to this match because it’s a callback to a wild 1979 brawl in Tupelo, Mississippi, where Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee fought all over the concession stand with Larry Latham and Wayne Ferris.

Jarett may think he has the advantage because of the roots of this match, but no one knows how to draw quite like a Briscoe.

Tonight, this story will finally be resolved

The Forbidden Door Opens

June 21 will feature the go-home episode before AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2. To build up the show, there will be plenty of crossover appearances.

Bryan Danielson will call out Kazuchika Okada ahead of their dream match on Sunday night. Also, Minoru Suzuki will once again team up with Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara as he tries to be the glue that holds them together in a Trios Match against Action Andretti Darius Martin, and AR Fox.

Plus, Katsuyori Shibata tags with Orange Cassidy against the team of Daniel Garcia and Zack Sabre Jr.

More matches will also likely be made for the event, as there are only four matches set currently

Blind Eliminator Tag Tournament  & A Brother Tag Team Battle

The next challengers for FTR will be made official as a Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament gets underway. Who will step up and how will this tournament work? Fans will find out on June 21.

Speaking of tag team wrestling, Matt and Jeff Hardy will team up to face the sons of Billy Gunn, Austin, and Colten in a brother battle.

Additionally, we will hear from Eddie Kingston, who returned to AEW last week and set his sights on Claudio Castagnoli. We will also hear from Adam Cole, who took Maxwell Jacob Friedman to the limit last week. Lastly, Kris Statlander will defend her TBS Title against Taya Valkyrie in the only championship match on the show tonight.
