Your fight-size update from the first Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor conference call. On the call was UFC president Dana White, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe and Showtime Sports' Stephen Espinoza.
– There is no price set in stone for the pay-per-view, which will be a Showtime-produced event, but White said it will likely be around the price range for the 2013 fight between Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, which had prices close to $100. Espinoza on the potential buyrate for the event: "The sky's the limit. [I've] never seen a sporting event of this magnitude."
– While talking about Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, White said they will learn from the mistakes of that event.
– Ellerbe said there is a confidentiality agreement between all sides to not discuss specific financial details about the event.
– As for the broadcast team, no one seemed to confirm who will be on the call for that fight. Mauro Ranallo is Showtime Boxing's lead play-by-play guy.
– White said there will be a UFC Embedded for the fight. White also said there won't be any UFC on that day: "There will be no UFC card that day. This is a boxing day."
– Just like with the main event, the entire undercard will strictly be boxing matches. Mayweather Promotions will be handling that aspect of the event.
– According to White, there is no rematch clause in the fight contract. Calls negotiating the fight the smoothest deal he's made.
– Ellerbe said the fight being contested at 154 pounds was simply brought up during negotiations and Floyd had no problem agreeing to it.
