Kevin Lee Says UFC Wasn’t Mad At Press Conference Scuffle
There were a lot of things that happened a few weeks ago at the UFC Summer Kickoff Press Conference, but one of the most memorable was the brief physical altercation between Kevin Lee and Michael Chiesa.
However, the fighter who threw the only punch in Lee says that the UFC wasn’t angry with him for his involvement in the scuffle.
“They understand it wasn’t on me; I wasn’t the one to do it,” he said to MMA Junkie Radio. “(Chiesa) was the one to stand up and say he was going to slap the (expletive) out of me. When you say that, and then you walk up on them, what do you think is going to happen? The UFC isn’t stupid.”
Lee and Chiesa are headlining UFC Fight Night: Oklahoma City, it is the first UFC main event fight for both competitors.
The whole scuffle started after Lee talked about Chiesa’s mother and according to Lee, his mother isn’t disappointed in him.
“If it was me and I really felt disrespected, I’m burning the building down,” Lee said. “I’m sorry. I’m going to jail. Otherwise, my mom would be disappointed in me.”
UFC Fight Night: Oklahoma City takes place on Sunday, June 25 from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Michael Chiesa and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
