Austin Aries Announces Plans For Immediate Future
Austin Aries will be taking time away from the ring again.
Earlier this week, Austin Aries tweeted he would be making decisions about his career's future. After his loss to Adrian Neville at WWE Extreme Rules, Aries appeared dejected. He had failed to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship for the third time and on 205 Live he spoke about what that meant for him.
"It's a privilege and honor to be in a WWE Ring. But I've got to be honest, I thought this moment might be a little bit different. My whole life I worked really hard to be a champion. Which is why I was sure after Extreme Rules I would stand before you here tonight, in this ring, as the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Obviously, as you can see, that's not the case. That's ok," said Aries. "When it counted most, I didn't get the job done," he added.
Aries said failing is a part of life and it is crucial to continue to strive after failure. But Aries had bad news regarding his competition status.
"People want to know 'Are you injured? Are you going to be taking some time off from WWE?' I want to come out here tonight, so you can hear it straight from my mouth. After months of battling Neville and TJP, I got a little leg stuff going on. I got a little neck stuff going on. Unfortunately, until WWE gets some test results back, I'm not medically cleared to wrestle. So what my future holds, I don't know," said Aries.
He was then confronted by Tony Nese who said Aries belongs in the crowd and not in the ring. The two wrestlers spoke with each other in a tense exchange. It seemed the two were close to fighting when Jack Gallagher came to the ring to dispatch of Nese.
