Luke Rockhold Willing To Step In On Short Notice At UFC 213
Former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold has been out of action since losing the gold to Michael Bisping at UFC 199.
However, if either Yoel Romero or Robert Whittaker were to pull out of the interim middleweight title fight at UFC 213, the former champion would be willing to step in.
“I’m training. I’ll be ready. Something happens to Yoel, Whittaker, I’ll be ready to fill in too,” Rockhold said to TMZ Sports.
The reason behind the interim title bout is that the current UFC Middleweight Champion in MIchael Bisping is out of action at the moment with a knee injury.
Speaking of the British champion, the former middleweight title holder still isn’t too fond of his longtime rival.
“Is he gonna fight anybody in the division that’s worthwhile? I’m just gonna do my thing, I’m gonna fight when I have to fight. I’m looking for a fight. Of course I want a third fight with Michael,” says Rockhold.
Rockhold has been out of action for a while as he has been dealing with a few injuries of his own. The former champion was supposed to headline UFC Fight Night 101 against Ronaldo Souza, but those pesky injuries got in the way.
