Kenny Omega: The Elite’s Reunion Shows That Bitter Rivals Can Hash It Out For The Greater Good

Kenny Omega comments on the reunion of The Elite.
On the May 17 episode of AEW Dynamite, Hangman Page returned for the first time since the April 5 episode. He reunited with The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson) and took the fight to Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli). In doing so, he evidently put his issues with Omega aside; the former friends and tag team partners had a bitter rivalry throughout 2021 that culminated in Page beating Omega for the AEW World Championship at AEW Full Gear 2021. Omega subsequently missed several months as he recovered from injuries, and he didn’t make up with Page, even after he returned in August 2022.
After AEW Dynamite went off the air, The Elite stayed in the ring and celebrated their reunion. In the video (courtesy of @BrianZilem), Omega noted that it proved that even bitter rivals could sit in a room and hash it out for the greater good.
“I saw a sign out there in the crowd. ‘Where’s Hangman?’ I saw another sign in the crowd. ‘Who can you trust, Kenny?’ I think we found Hangman, and I also think I found who I can trust. There’s a lot to celebrate today. You brought up a new show coming, AEW Collision. That’s exciting news. That all pales in comparison to something more near and dear to my heart, and that’s catching up with someone that I thought I’d maybe never be able to be in the same room with again. If there’s one thing that this proves, Hangman, it’s that bitter enemies, bitter rivals, men that once hated one another, can sit in a room, can sit in a ring, and hash it out for the greater good. So call me old-fashioned, if you will, but to me, that sounds like a cause for a celebration,” Omega said.
Omega then called Brandon cutler to the ring, and Cutler brought out some “goodies” that turned out to be drinks. Page invited Omega to drink for the first time in his life, but the latter turned him down because he’s straight-edge.
“Now hold the phone there, senior Page. Hold the tele-phone. Now there is a lot of things that I’m willing to try once, twice if I like it. But alcohol, now that might be a bridge too far, my friend. We just got back together, for goodness’ sakes. I’m straight-edge, hello,” Omega said.
